2010 POINT RULES
- In order to receive points, a youth exhibitor
must pay current year KCLA dues prior to the show from which he or
she receives points.
- Youth members will compete for points based on
the member’s age as of January 1, 2010 for Novice (under 8 years as of
1/1/10) Clover (9 to 11 years as of 1/1/10) Junior (12 to 13 years as of
1/1/10), Intermediate (14-16 as of 1/1/10) and Senior (17 to 21 years as
of 1/1/10 or showing FFA). There is also a TOP TEN, which is for
any age based on overall points. Minimum of a combined (KY Bred,
Leadership & Community Service, Showmanship, and Showing Lambs) total
100 point to be eligible for award. Novice members need 50 points to be eligible for award.
- KENTUCKY BRED POINTS -- Points are given
for promotion of Kentucky Bred Market Lambs. Complete form for “2010
KCLA KY BRED POINTS” and mail by June 21, 2010.
- LEADERSHIP & COMMUNITY SERVICE -- Points
are given for activities involving sheep and/or lambs. Compete form for
“2010 KCLA LEADERSHIP & COMMUNITY SERVICE” and mail by August 31, 2010.
- SHOWMANSHIP POINTS AWARDS -- points will
be calculated at the POINT shows as follows:
1st - 10 points, 2nd - 9 points, 3rd - 8 points, 4th - 7 points, 5th - 6
points
All others in ring will receive 3 points.
Showmanship award will be given for Novice, Clover, Junior, Intermediate
and Senior. These points will also accumulate for individual awards.
- SHOWING MARKET LAMBS -- points will be
accumulated on the two (2) highest market lambs placing at each
of the POINT shows (except KY state fair – two highest market lamb
points are listed below). Need to check the rules for each show on
number of lambs, which may be shown. Points will be calculated as
follows:
1st - 10 points, 2nd - 9 points, 3rd - 8 points, 4th -
7 points, 5th - 6 points
6th - 5 points, 7th - 4 points, 8th - 3 points, 9th - 2
points, 10th - 1 point
Additional three (3) points will be given for Breed Champion and
additional one (1) point will be given for Breed Reserve Champion.
Additional five (5) points will be given for Overall Grand Champion and
additional three (3) points for Overall Reserve Grand Champion.
Kentucky State Fair class points will be as follows on the two
(2) highest market lambs
1st - 15 points, 2nd - 14 points, 3rd - 13 points, 4th
- 12 points, 5th - 11 points
6th - 10 points, 7th - 9 points, 8th - 8 points, 9th -
7 points, 10th - 6 point
All others in ring will receive 3 points.
POINT SHOWS -- All KDA lamb shows, state fair and KCLA point county
fairs – not all county fair dates have been determined at this time. A
complete list of shows will be listed by 6/1/10 on
