ANNUAL KCLA AWARDS PRESENTATION
2011 Banquet & Awards

KENTUCKY CLUB LAMB ASSOCIATION

The annual awards and meeting of the Kentucky Club Lamb Association meeting was held October 8, 2011 at the Clark County Extension Office.  Everyone who attended enjoyed a dessert and appetizers before the awards presentation.   New officers were elected; Chad Halsey – President; Wendell Terrell – Vice President; Renee Doyle – Secretary/Treasurer; Youth Directors – Ryan Halligan and Carter Mobley,

Awards for youth are divided into five age groups based on age as of January 1 of the current year Novice (8 and under), Clover (9 to 11), Junior (12 to 13) Intermediate (14 to 16), and Senior (17 to 21).  There is also a TOP TEN, which is based on overall points. Youth accumulate points in five areas and a minimum of 100 points must be accumulated to receive awards:

  1. KENTUCKY BRED POINTS – Points are given for promotion of Kentucky
    Bred Market Lambs. 
  2. LEADERSHIP & COMMUNITY SERVICE – Points are given for activities involving sheep and/or lambs and showing at NAILE
  3. SHOWMANSHIP POINTS AWARDS – Points are calculated at the “Point” shows, everyone who does showmanship receives points.
  4. SHOWING MARKET LAMBS – Points are accumulated on the two- (2) highest market lambs at each of the “Point” shows (five district or expos, one county fairs and the state fair).  Additional Points are given for Grand and Reserve market lambs

KENTUCKY CLUB LAMB AUCTION is set for April 13, 2012 in Paris, Kentucky.
This year the auction has expended to including goats and breeding sheep.  All livestock
will be Kentucky Proud Tagged.  For more information on the auction contact Lee Ann

Kay Comer won the youth fund raiser drawing at the 2011 Kentucky State Fair.  She
received a new set of Lister Shears.  Look for the 2012 youth fund raiser at the Auction
and the shows and have your tickets purchased by noon the day market lambs are shown
at the KY state fair.
